Accessing the Terminal: What You Need to Know

Welcome to Amports Freeport. Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions by truck drivers and visitors at our Freeport terminal. Click each section to expand.

  • All visitors, including truck drivers, must meet Port Freeport’s security requirements.

  • A TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is required for unescorted access.

  • If you do not have a TWIC card, a 24/7 TWIC escort service is available for a fee.

  • You must have an ANSI class-2 safety vest and closed toe shoes.

  • To request a TWIC escort, please inform the Customer Service Representative when you check in at the terminal.

  • If you prefer to notify us in advance, you may email: FPOTEAM@amports.com.

  • The Freeport Terminal is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on a first come, first served basis.

  • All POV/HH imports and exports must check in by 3:30 PM to be processed the same day.

  • If your cargo requires a crane lift, an appointment must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by emailing: FPOTEAM@amports.com

  • All HH cargo access requires a TWIC card or must be accompanied by an escort.

  • POV access does not require a TWIC card.

  • Freeport operates as a self-load and unload port for all drivable cargo.

    • If assistance is needed, loading and unloading services are available for a fee.

All truck drivers must check in with the clerk outside the port. The clerk will be on the side of the road directly across from Gate 4. The name of this road is Freeport-Bryan Mound Rd.
 
The Clerk will direct truckers when to enter the port at Gate 4. You will need a valid driver’s license and insurance to enter the Port Freeport.
 
Step 1
  • Enter Customer Service and present a printed dock receipt with your name, phone number, and title documents. This will be used to verify the booking numbers, titles, and approvals.
Step 2
  • After visiting Customer Service, proceed to unload the vehicle and deliver to the Cargo Processing Center (White Tent).
    • If the vehicle is operational, park it in the lanes marked with green arrows and place dock receipts on the dash inside the vehicle.
Non-runners or Forklift units:
  • Back your trailer up along the fence line next to the tent.
  • Only two trucks are allowed at one time next to the fence.
Non-Running Units
  • Roll the vehicle off, place it in an open spot next to the fence, and place the dock receipt on the dashboard.
  • If the POV is for Sallaum, the battery must be removed
  • If the POV is for Grimaldi, the battery may remain but must be accessible.
Forklift Units
  • A forklift will be dispatched to unload the vehicle. Once on the ground, place the dock receipt on the dashboard.
  • The battery must be removed prior to arrival at the port.
ALL VEHICLES MUST BE FREE OF ANY AND ALL TRASH AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS
 
ALL VEHICLES MUST NOT HAVE ANY LOOSE OR HANGING PARTS.
 
Once the vehicle is deemed acceptable, your dock receipt will be signed and stamped with a dated “RECEIVED” stamp after which you may leave.
 
DO NOT LEAVE until you receive a signed and stamped dock receipt.
Vehicles left without a stamped dock receipt will be considered abandoned.
  • Abandoned Vehicle Fees:
    • $100 abandonment fee
    • $10 per day storage fee, starting on the day of abandonment

Drop-Off – HH/POV

  • Dock Receipt must include: Booking number, Shipper, Consignee, Freight Forwarder, Shipping Line

  • Serial Number/VIN, Type, and Model on the unit must match the Dock Receipt.

  • If the POV is bound for Africa, a title or approval of title from the Shipping Line is required.

  • All POV/HH cargo must be running, clean, and drivable.

  • Only African Line and Sallaum Line accept non-runners, tows, and forklift POVs.

Pick-Up – HH/POV

  • Dock Receipt must include: Bill of Lading number, Vessel name, Serial Number/VIN.
