Amports, Mitsubishi Motors North America and Port Freeport Celebrate New Automotive Logistics Collaboration

Longstanding partners expand their relationship through integrated stevedoring and vehicle processing services at Port Freeport.

A decades-long partnership reached an exciting milestone as Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) officially launched operations at AMPORTS’ Freeport terminal, strengthening the company’s U.S. vehicle distribution network while reinforcing Port Freeport’s role as a growing automotive gateway.

A valued AMPORTS customer since 1983, MMNA selected Port Freeport as the newest addition to its U.S. distribution system, complementing its existing operations with AMPORTS in Baltimore, Maryland, and Jacksonville, Florida. At Freeport, Mitsubishi vehicles benefit from a seamless flow that combines AMPORTS’ stevedoring, vehicle processing, and accessorization services in one strategic location.

The collaboration supports MMNA’s Momentum 2030 business plan by improving delivery efficiency to dealer partners across the Gulf Coast and Midwest while helping streamline supply chain operations.

"As we continue to focus our efforts on delivering Momentum 2030, the addition of Port Freeport to our U.S. distribution system will be key to improving efficiency, reducing waste and speeding up deliveries to our dealer partners throughout the Gulf and the Midwest."

Ken Konieczka, Senior Vice President of Sales Operations for Mitsubishi Motors North America

Since operations began on April 28, more than 500 Mitsubishi vehicles have moved through Port Freeport. The partnership was officially celebrated on July 1 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from MMNA, Amports, Port Freeport, and Höegh Autoliners. The event coincided with the arrival of the Höegh Sunrise, one of Höegh Autoliners’ new Aurora Class vessels carrying Mitsubishi vehicles into Freeport.

"Our role is to support customers through integrated solutions that align with evolving supply chain needs. Working alongside Mitsubishi Motors North America and Port Freeport, this initiative reflects how collaboration can improve the flow of vehicles and strengthen the overall supply chain."

Vee Kachroo, Chief Executive Officer of Amports

The collaboration demonstrates how automakers, port operators, and logistics providers can work together to build more efficient, connected supply chains. With more than 60 years of industry expertise, AMPORTS continues to provide integrated port, vehicle processing, and logistics solutions that help customers move cargo efficiently from vessel to market.
