AMPORTS Goes Red for Women: Standing Together for Heart Health
Honoring a personal journey, supporting women’s heart health, and uniting our teams for American Heart Month 2026
In February 2026, AMPORTS is proud to join organizations across the country in recognizing American Heart Month and supporting the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement. This initiative brings our teams together around a shared purpose: raising awareness about cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 health threat facing women, and promoting wellness within our communities.
This year, our participation is inspired by a powerful and personal story from Batina Smith, Vice President of Human Resources, whose journey underscores why this cause matters so deeply.
“I support Go Red for Women because heart health is deeply personal to me. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a heart rhythm condition that required me to make meaningful lifestyle changes and adjust to a new normal.”
Batina Smith, VP of Human Resources of AMPORTS.
Batina’s experience revealed how easily women’s cardiac symptoms can be overlooked or dismissed, an all-too-common reality that often leads to delayed diagnosis and treatment. “That experience reminded me how easily women’s cardiac symptoms can be overlooked or dismissed and opened my eyes to the importance of awareness, advocacy, and early detection—especially for women, who often present differently and can be diagnosed later than men.”
Her story is a reminder that heart disease does not discriminate by age or lifestyle. “Heart disease affects people of all ages and lifestyles, regardless of how ‘healthy’ we think we are.”
Putting Wellness First—Together
Batina’s journey strengthened her commitment to proactive care and encouraging others, especially women, to prioritize their own health.
“Women often navigate busy lives, prioritizing everything and everyone else first. Go Red for Women reminds us that caring for our own health is not only essential, it’s empowering.”
Batina Smith, VP of Human Resources of AMPORTS.
At AMPORTS, we believe wellness is a shared responsibility and an essential part of supporting our people. By standing behind this initiative, we aim to create meaningful conversations about health, prevention, and well-being, both in the workplace and beyond. “Prioritizing my heart health changed my life. It taught me to listen to my body, ask questions, and never take my well-being for granted.”
How AMPORTS Employees Are Getting Involved
Throughout February 2026, AMPORTS will support Go Red for Women and invite our U.S.-based employees to join the movement in several ways:
-
Wear Red on Friday, February 6, in recognition of National Wear Red Day®, to help raise awareness and spark conversation.
-
Learn more about women’s heart health, prevention, and early detection through resources provided by the American Heart Association.
-
Donate, if you wish, to support the Go Red for Women mission. Employees can amplify their impact by leveraging the AMPORTS Matching Gift Program, which provides corporate support to eligible charitable contributions.
By coming together, we can support healthier lives, stronger communities, and a culture that values well-being. “I am proud to be part of a movement that reminds women everywhere that their health matters.”
As we move through American Heart Month, AMPORTS is honored to stand behind Batina and alongside our employees in support of a cause that truly makes a difference. Together, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and help protect every woman’s heart.
