A successful four-day trial with Union Pacific, General Motors, and Port Freeport demonstrates new rail infrastructure is ready — and AMPORTS is open for business.
On Monday, August 11, 2025, AMPORTS marked a historic milestone with the successful launch of rail services at our Port Freeport terminal in Texas. For the first time, railcars were unloaded at our facility in partnership with Union Pacific Railroad, General Motors (GM), and Port Freeport.
Over the course of a 4-day project, our team unloaded 100 railcars — averaging 25 per day — for a total of 800 GM units. This effort was supported by a highly skilled team of 10 associates, including rail experts from our Baltimore, Jacksonville, and North Dallas facilities, along with dedicated leadership in safety and operations. Thanks to their professionalism and commitment, the project concluded with zero damages and all key performance indicators met.
This successful trial demonstrates that the infrastructure is now in place at Port Freeport and we are open for business. The strategic collaboration enhances AMPORTS’ operational capabilities while delivering more efficient supply chain solutions for OEM customers.
At AMPORTS, we are continuously seeking opportunities to bring value to our partners, and this milestone underscores our ability to deliver innovative logistics solutions with safety, quality, and reliability at the forefront.
We are currently in discussions with OEM customers to identify needs and provide tailored rail solutions. If you are exploring new supply chain opportunities, our sales team would be glad to discuss how this new service can support your projects.
