AMPORTS Mexico Accelerates Expansion in Lázaro Cárdenas
Patio L, our new world-class off-port yard in La Palma
In a strategic move that strengthens its logistics leadership in Mexico, AMPORTS announces the development of its new off-port yard in La Palma, Lázaro Cárdenas. With close collaboration with the Administración del Sistema Portuario Nacional (ASIPONA), this development spans 12 hectares specifically designed for the safe and efficient handling of vehicles.
This new facility — known as Patio L — has the capacity to store up to 5,000 units and will begin operations in its first phase by August 2025. Its infrastructure is built to the highest quality standards, with features similar to Patio P — our bonded facility located within the port area — ensuring an efficient and reliable level of operations in an off-port environment.
In addition to its optimized operational design, the yard will feature elements that ensure safety, functionality, and flexibility for automakers and logistics partners:
Fully paved surface
Designated spaces for loading and unloading of car haulers
Specialized vehicle washing area
Industrial lighting
Lightning protection system
CCTV system with 28 cameras and 24/7 surveillance
Perimeter fencing
On-site operations offices
Flexible entry and exit hours for special campaigns
And in a future phase, a parts storage warehouse will further enhance the site’s value proposition
The goal is clear: to provide OEMs and logistics providers with a hub that combines strategic location, operational agility, and high-quality standards. Lázaro Cárdenas continues to position itself as a key link in the automotive logistics chain, and AMPORTS reinforces that vision by investing in smart, resilient infrastructure.
Several OEMs have already expressed strong interest in securing space within Patio L, sending a clear signal to the market: this new asset is not only strategic — it’s in demand. While there is still an opportunity to join, availability is moving fast, and those who anticipate future needs are already raising their hands.
With this development, AMPORTS Mexico reaffirms its commitment to national port growth, sustained investment, and the advancement of automotive nearshoring. This is how we keep the world moving — from Mexico, with a vision for the future.
