Celebrating Our New Ford E‑Transit at Blount Island
At Amports, we’re excited to welcome the new all-electric Ford E‑Transit van to our operations at Blount Island in Jacksonville, Florida. This vehicle marks another important step in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation in portside operations.
Clean Transport, Zero Emissions
This E‑Transit model, converted for crew movement, comfortably seats up to 12 passengers and brings zero tailpipe emissions to our Jacksonville terminal. Compared to a similar gasoline-powered mid-size van that releases over 9 tons of CO₂ annually, the E‑Transit provides a dramatic reduction in emissions.
Each full charge of the E‑Transit offsets approximately 150 pounds of CO₂—or 1.20 pounds per mile—that would have otherwise been produced by a gasoline vehicle. With an EPA-estimated range of 126 miles, it offers an efficient 1.85 miles per kWh, helping us drive cleaner and smarter every day.
Efficiency That Pays Off
Not only does the E‑Transit reduce carbon emissions—it also lowers operating costs. At an average U.S. electricity rate of 16 cents per kWh, the E‑Transit costs only about 11.5 cents per mile to operate—significantly less than conventional fuel vehicles.
And with no oil changes, no transmission fluid needs, and reduced brake wear, the van requires far less routine maintenance, allowing for more uptime and long-term savings.

This acquisition aligns with our 2025 sustainability initiative: “Driving Towards a Clean Future.” It builds on several important milestones:
Green Marine Membership (March 2025), a top-tier North American environmental certification program we proudly joined to reinforce our commitment to continuous environmental improvement.
STAX Engineering Partnership (January 2025), enabling us to capture and eliminate up to 99% of particulate matter and 95% of nitrogen oxides from at-berth vessel emissions at the Port of Benicia.
Expansion of electric crew shuttles across multiple port sites with the help of vehicle conversion specialists.
