AMPORTS signs agreement with Toyota Logistics Services Inc. to process imported vehicles from Japan at AMPORTS' Benicia, California facility.

The initial contract is for five years, with two five-year options for renewal. Toyota estimates that approximately 65,000 vehicles will be shipped through Benicia during the first year of the service, with the figure rising to 100,000 or more units in the following years. Work is underway on preparing the facilities to accommodate the increased volumes and variety of models of Toyotas that will start to arrive in mid January 2006.

 

AMPORTS Benicia and Baltimore have a long-standing relationship with Toyota, Baltimore currently handles Toyota exports to the Middle East and Germany, and Benicia handles exports to Hawaii.

Appointing AMPORTS to undertake its vehicle processing is a great testament to the skill and experience of the workforce. AMPORTS Benicia is located 16 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge at the headwaters of the San Francisco Bay with easy access to I-80 for inland transportation. The port is comprised of 675 privately owned acres, of the 4,000-acre Benicia Industrial Park with 140,000 sq. ft. of vehicle processing buildings. The Benicia deep-water pier, measuring 2,395 feet in length, is capable of berthing three vessels simultaneously. On terminal rail is serviced by Union Pacific.

AMPORTS announces the signing of a five-year port processing agreement with GLOVIS America, Inc effective July 2003.

 

AMPORTS’ Baltimore facility has recently signed a five-year agreement with GLOVIS America, Inc. to process Hyundai and KIA vehicles imported from Korea.

 

GLOVIS anticipates importing some 60,000 Hyundai vehicles per year through the facility, comprising a broad model range including the Accent, Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe, XG350, and Tiburon.  KIA imports will include the Rio, Sorento, Spectra, Optima and Sedona with volumes of 30,000 annually.

 

AMPORTS currently processes Hyundai vehicles through its Chesapeake Terminal and this agreement consolidates the Hyundai and KIA vehicle processing for GLOVIS in one facility.

 

Jim Davis, AMPORTS’ Chief Executive Officer is quoted as saying, “this agreement makes a great addition to the customers already located at AMPORTS’ Baltimore facility.  AMPORTS will invest to meet the significant increase in volumes being processed and looks forward to consolidating the great relationship AMPORTS already has with GLOVIS.”

Chesapeake Terminal, Baltimore – AMPORTS was presented with the Hyundai Motor America award for “outstanding performance in processing” for 2002.

AMPORTS announces the signing of a new port processing contract with General Motors for the processing of import vehicles at AMPORTS’ car-processing facility in Benicia, California.

 

General Motors and AMPORTS have signed an 18 month agreement for the import of 75,000 AVEO vehicles and 18,000 GTO vehicles through AMPORTS’ car-processing facility in Benicia, California.

           

The AVEO is a product of General Motors’ GMDAT alliance which will fill a void in the General Motors product line-up for an economical and highly-affordable car.

 

The GTO, synonymous with the “muscle car” era, will be built by General Motors’ partner the Holden Company of Australia.

 

Jim Davis, AMPORTS’ Chief Executive Officer is quoted as saying: “We are delighted that General Motors has chosen AMPORTS to import its vehicles into the West Coast and we will be investing to upgrade facilities to service this new account.  It is anticipated that this will create 40 new jobs in the area.
